     CZAR Software was founded in 1989 by Thomas Jaeger to provide the highest quality software to a worldwide market. The name CZAR Software came about by the falling of The Berlin Wall in October of 1989. At that time I was looking for a memorable (catchy) company name. One that would not only be easy to remember but that would also indicate the highest of quality for the product that it represented. Additionally, I wanted a very memorable graphic as a company logo. Premier Gorbachev the Premier of Russia had done so much to reunify Germany by bringing down the wall that had divided East and West Germany for so many long and painful years. Being German, I was very moved by this kind of gesture and I wanted to do something to mark this time in history in my own way. Since it was such an emotional moment for my countrymen and myself, I wanted to use a symbol that would represent an elite person from Russia. I decided to choose a Russian King - a CZAR. Even though the last Czar of Russia (Czar Nicolas) could have never won a popularity contest, the CZAR did represent a long and powerful part of the history of Russia. It also represents a country where good people can be found just like any other country and yet those good people almost were never mentioned. The history making gesture of Mr. Gorbatchov is only one example of this important time in history. One of the better examples is of course the ending of the cold war. Thus the name CZAR Software was born.
